It taught me patience

2. You can crochet ANYTHING

3. Because I can take it with me anywhere.

4. Crochetville, enough said...

5. I get to correct people who swear they used to knit, and tell them that I am crocheting.

6. I love color and crochet knows no boundaries when it comes to color

7. It's something I'm good that, that I truly enjoy. I mean how many people have a hobby that can make gifts, kill boredom, keep people warm, make dish cloths, bags, jewelry, hats, and sometimes even be functional??

8. It gives me something to talk about and is a great ice breaker from the typical 21 year old conversations it makes me stand out.

9. I can make the same blanket in different colors and switch up a square here and there or a stitch every other row and nobody could ever tell it's from the same pattern.

10. Because otherwise I'd have a lot of explaining to do about all that yarn in my closet!

11. It makes me feel good when people say "I wish I could do that"

12. The blanket I'm working on can keep me warm while I making it.

13. I can usually make a quick gift from my stash and not spend a dime

14. Because of crochet nights with Erin and drinks. Two tipsy hookers :-D

15. amigurumi cuteness

16. the feeling of really soft yarn through your fingers begging to be twisted into something beautiful and forever

17. the endless decor

18. because fridgies are cute

19. because I met so many wonderful people that would have otherwise not been in my life if I didn't crochet

20. it's stress relief

21. because of national crochet month

22. because my boyfriend actually wants me to make him something or he's all the time saying you should totally crochet that.

23. because of friendship ghan squares

24. because even my dog likes crochet

25. it gives me something to be passionate about!Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-40461836095554284222011-02-04T20:34:00.001-08:002011-02-04T20:43:20.179-08:00So I'm still working on my 3sub... I don't think I'll ever finish an afghan. lol. I had my stitch sampler, my 3sub, Scott's blanket, *sigh*. Oh well. I am dedicating my weekend to crochet. Plus I get so distracted so easily it's crazy. I want to try Jacobs ladder now. & I should probably start edging my friendship ghan squares so I don't have to do it all at once. I'm addicted to searching for patterns and not working on what I already have started. Although a few days ago I came across a blog that was selling yes SELLING a pattern for a granny square... that kinda irked me bit I'll admit. I can understand selling a pattern that is of your own creation but a basic granny square that's a bit of a rip off don't ya think?? I mean it's like the base of all things crochet. I remember when I first started learning, it was like the thing to know how to do. I could make one in my sleep it hardly seems fair to charge someone for that. I think I even blogged about it I was so excited to make it. I neglect my blog too. I need to start blogging more. I do like it, I just forget. Well pizza should be here like any second.. they are late.

Hugs
MissyMelissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-40864943894303788822011-01-09T13:26:00.000-08:002011-01-09T13:42:18.374-08:00Moving ForwardI know I don't blog often enough, but I'm back I guess for today at least. I've been working on my 3SUB. I've been absent from the ville' a lot as well. I've been through quite a few ordeals the past couple months. I had to get rid of Bunz pretty much right after I got him, as my apartments would not allow him to stay, although they allow cats and dogs. (don't ask I don't understand it myself) Then my old Dog Bruce had to go as he destroyed everything while we we're at work, and if crated he chewed on the Bars untill his teeth bleed. :( So he had to go. Then just last week my cats had to go which was the hardest for me to deal with as I've had them for some time and was very attached. But with having work issues and them peeing on everything no matter what I did.. it was really hard for me. So I've been a bit depressed lately needless to say. I never thought I would have any reason to ever get rid of my animals. I've always been such a huge animal lover. I feel as if I've lost part of my family. I do have a Pomeranian though. She has helped me through a lot of this mess. & thankfully hasn't destroyed anything and now claims the house as all hers. Seeing as she's the only Pet I have. Her name is Foxie. & if I didn't have her I'm not so sure how I would have reacted to getting of the cats. Plus I've had some family issues lately with my parents and my mother refuseing to speak to me for months. It's been a rough year and I'm looking forward to moveing forward in 2011 the best I can. Enough of the bad things. Although there are plenty it's not what I should be thinking about to feel better. That's where crocheting comes in. I started this towards the end of the year. & put it on hold through the holidays. I pulled it out a couple days ago and I love working on it. All the bright colors are a mood lifter. & seeing as I'm sick it's keeping me warm as well. :)

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-36392909874345279272010-09-08T17:03:00.000-07:002010-09-08T17:15:31.692-07:00Bunz is back!!
So even though we really don't have the room for him, we deided to get Bunz back. We missed him like terrible and he's a great bunny. It was difficult for us to get rid of him in the first place, so we gave him to a friend after turning down too many people from craigslists being way to picky when it came to who we went to. SO glad we did that, then said friend needed to get rid of him do to apartment management issues and we tried via craigslist once again with no responses. then got to talking about him and Scott was all like well you know... we could probably find room for him. That was enough for me, went out and got a big bag of food his favorite hay, some strawberries (he likes those) and now he's home again and I feel crazy because I have a dog, three cats, and Bunz lol NO MORE!!!! But I feel like our little family is complete again. I've always been a huge animal lover, and always had something. Even as a kid I was allowed two. (non dog or cat animals) I usually had a hamster and something else. But glad that things worked out the way they did Bunz narrowly escaped rehoming to a stranger twice. I think it's meant to be.

Well, I'm off the make salads for dinner and work on my stitch sampler A.K.A. Lace and bobbles

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-79025596189983642332010-08-25T12:15:00.000-07:002010-08-25T12:51:05.443-07:00I need to VENTNot normally my thing but I'm losing it! lol I've been very sick lately. First I was out with stomach pains and a fever with no explanation as to why. That lasted for about a week, Then I couldn't keep anything down period, and that lasted about a week. Then this past Friday I started having an asthma flare up. Which continued through the weekend. Then at work on Monday it was starting to get worse, Tuesday I couldn't handle it and had a full blown attack and my lips turned blue. Thankfully somebody I work with has asthma as well and let me use their inhaler, as I don't have one because I don't have insurance even though I work a full time job. And my boss STILL wouldn't let me go home even though my lips were BLUE!! Because I seemed to be feeling better.... right because he totally knows what it's like to lose oxygen. So after work on Tuesday I went to the emergency room, due to difficulty breathing. Waited forever.... and ever. Then I ended up have the worst attack yet and stopped breathing to where I finally was seen and had a tube down my throat. Then I waited in a room for an hour with horrible coughing and gasping for air, finally one of the nurses felt sorry for me and started breathing treatments with the vapor mist thingy (albuterol). I went through 6 before my airways were stable enough to stop. And since I have a sensitivity to albuterol which usually isn't a problem with just an inhaler but it was 6 breathing treatment thingys, so I had to have an i.v. to slow my heart rate which was going out of control. Then finally I was seen by the student doctor who was actually very nice and I was very happy with unlike the stupid catty nurses. Finally I was told I had an asthma attack.... (really I had no idea) Then I was seen by the actual doctor who talked to me for all of two minutes to explain that he was going to put me on steroids for my lungs and an inhaler, and I should be released soon. Almost TWO hours later (which I was starting to wheeze again) the nurse came in to have me sign the release form, and give me the prescriptions. So I get home at about 2:30 a.m. and I still couldn't breathe all that well. Had to get up at 5:30 in the morning to go to work today, and since I couldn't drop off the prescriptions I had no inhaler so I had a difficult day today as well, and my boss just didn't get it at all. Put me at a sit down job that was over by the docks where the semis unload and the doors are usually always open this time of year and the exhaust and fumes from the semis was making it a lot worse I would rather stand and do my normal job at a relaxed pace then deal with that. But he wouldn't have it. So I left at 1:oo instead of the usual 3:00 which is considered a tardy you can leave two hours early or be two hours late and take a tardy and you get 12 a year and I have 2 from last winder due to snow delays so I said screw it and left so I could get my prescriptions sooner. Whew. I think that's everything, sorry for the vent. lol Kudos if you actually read it!Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-83013362982218938382010-07-26T18:30:00.001-07:002010-07-26T18:33:59.049-07:00My sister's comfortghanI received 7 squares for this today!! 6 from Hhensler on the ville' and 1 from picescrocheter. I just tried to follow someone and I accidently followed myself. =-D I crack myself up sometimes. I've been very busy lately. I've finally moved, and I love the new place. It's perfect for me and Scott! I've got a dog and made a few new friends. I finally got my hands on an Afghans for all Seasons book and started the stitch sampler! Then some not so happy news. My sister has a tumor in her brain. I haven't posted about her but she's been in pain for the last year. She taking so many pills and it hurts to know she's suffering while trying to care for her kids who are visiting for the summer. Then to top it off she put together party for my birthday this sunday. She's such a strong person and endureing so much while all the while putting a smile on her face. I posted more info on crochetville as I'm trying to put together a comfort ghan for her. I also received an amazing package from a ville member for my birthday. It was so sweet. I feel so blessed to be a member of such a wonderfull online community. Well it is late and I'm a bit tired after all so pictures of the Stitch Sampler progess and I'm out for the time being.

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-49921393473839526732010-06-05T20:37:00.000-07:002010-06-05T20:46:17.378-07:00HelloI always forget to update this darn thing. I'm in love with crochetville. Well I offically moved to a new apartment. It's amazing, and I never want to leave, but it is a one bedroom so that's probably a bit unrealistic... lol. I'm sad that a lot of my cat stuff got ruined in our old basement due to water damage. I have cat kitchen towels and blankets, and I have a few crocheted blankets from family members that are long gone that were ruined as well. So I guess back to starting from scratch on my cat stuff and my lil ceremic cat got cracked in two... =-[ oh well. We're getting settled and all my yarn survived the move! lol I've been busy making squares for the CAL on crochetville for friendship ghans. I love it. & I've made some great friends. I've been into trying to send some squares or whatever it is people are seeking here and there as well. So boreing old me hasn't been up to much. Not much more on the blankets. I did get another row on Scott's blanket, and a few rounds on the baby granny but as far as mine I had a square some apart that was made from a crazy ball and it's in the middle to I have to remove a row and part of another to get to it and replace it so I just kinda folded it up and decided to work on it later.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-7356367871674865932010-05-16T13:18:00.000-07:002010-05-16T13:22:41.174-07:00 I spent my weekend making these cute motifs. I LOVE this book. It's amazing! Mine are comming out a bit large but I am useing an I hook and cotton yarn. No idea what to do with them as of yet, I just want to make more! It's very addicting and it's got that instant gratification thing too. This is the first crochet book I've ever bought and I think I will be adding to the collection. I was afraid I wasn't going to be skilled enough to follow the patterns in books, but I'm pleased with the result. I plan to just hook away! Have a great weekend.

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-44909401945595518552010-05-08T08:53:00.000-07:002010-05-08T09:21:30.628-07:00Blanket Mess!

So I love afghans. I LOVE them. I have started countless afghans, but I NEVER finish them. I always frog frog frog. I get bored with them, but I'm always thrilled with the idea of finishing one. I guess I need that instant gratification. =-[

Well I got three going right now that are actually kind of promising.

1. Black and Red made from random squares (for the wonderful boyfriend)

2. A random (and I mean random) granny. Any colors you can think of it's in it!

3. Baby afghan, because we are still trying and I figured if I focus on the positive it will happen
useing carron one pounders for this two of them then the plan is to put it away in my hope chest until the day comes that I do get pregnant then put either a pink or blue border to it.

This is part of the boyfriend's blanket I only have one row done... compared to mine it's kinda sad. lol but I just bought a new book on motifs and there's a squares section so I'm going to test them all and I figured I'll just do them all in red and black.

Mine is the easy one to work on. Maybe it's just because it's mine. I'm not sure I think it's the colors and the randomness of the blanket that makes me want to work on it more. But all of these have gotten further than any other afghan I have ever attempted to make. So to me they are all promising!

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-85791558045897887812010-04-23T18:39:00.001-07:002010-04-23T18:56:22.277-07:00Long time so post! (oops) heheSo anyways, I know it's been forever since I posted anything. We've been through apartment hell as far as our townhome goes. It's one thing after another, leaky sink, no water pressure, flooding basement, our ac has been broken since we moved in and the work order has been active for a year. I just can't take it anymore. I'm happy to annouce we have found a new really nice apartment and are moving june first! .... again. It seems luck is just not on our side we always move after a year I really want to just stay somewhere for a while. We had to downsize to a one bedroom to afford the complex we wanted but it's so worth it. It's just me and him anyways, seeing as luck isn't on my side to get pregnant right now either. *sigh* don't mind my pessimistic attitude. lol Hopefully after a year here we'll need to move for a bigger place due to a little miracle? (one can hope) Maybe we'll finally take the plunge and move out of state and settle in one place, that's why we rent we want a house in North Carolina but I'm not ready to leave ohio just yet. Anyways sorry about the endless rambling. I've been working on a baby blanket lately. Just a basic granny square I'm useing caron lb in baby rainbow, I want to use two skeins to make it so it would grow with a toddler and then when I know what I will have trim it in either pink or blue. I figured if I had a positive attitude and go about what I want to do it will happen, so my friend suggested that I make a baby blanket. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. Probably update this post later tonight. I'd like to make some wash cloths later tonight as well.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-46217081725472983882009-11-21T13:00:00.000-08:002009-11-21T13:42:56.591-08:00New Wash Cloth

Just thought I would share one of my wonderful kitties modeling my new bath cloth. So here you have it. I will post pictures sometime this weekend. This is the first pattern I actually wrote down. You can sell any items you make just please if someone asks refer them to my blog so they can get it to.

Crochet Cue-Tip Cup

Materials
- Small amount of yarn
- Cardboard tp roll
- Hot glue gun

I cut the tp roll to the height I wanted it and then I taped the bottom of it so they wouldn't fall out. You could crochet a bottom. Just a flat circle or something but I was in a hurry.

For the crocheted cover:

1.Ch 25 join with slip stitch
2.Ch 2, DC in each stitch around and join to top of Ch 2
3. Repeat step 2 till you reach the height of your tp roll. * You may have to single crochet around if the dc is too tall for the last round but you still come up short.*
Fasten off!

Then I just sliped it over the cardboard roll and hot glued it in place in a few spots. Dropped in some cue-tips and now it resides in the upstaires bathroom. I will probably have this place totally covered in crochet everything here soon. Totally insane. We bomed over the weekend due to EVIL fleas that won't die. Hopefully this did the trick. But now I'm way in over my head here. I have to wash EVERYTHING. Clothes, Dishes, Carpets, Counters, Both bathrooms. Plus work. My goal is to get the house done by friday. Then enjoy my weekend. We stopped working saturdays so if I get everything washed down by then I can relax. Spend much needed time with the boyfriend, and start crocheting and glueing my homemade christmas. My grandma is staying with us this year, so I want to make it extra special. I'm a list person. So bear with me this post is mainly to calm my own nerves and plan what I'm going to do.

Get House Clean
1. Start from top to bottom.
- Get together all clothes and put in basement in the massive pile that is threatning to eat my basement. Wash only what we wear and sort everything else to be washed after christmas when we get new washer.
- All dishes need taken out and washed
- Cats need a bath
- Borrow mom's vacume and carpet shampooer and have at it
- Re-arrange living room
- Get desk & entertainment stand from boyfriend's Dad's
- Get couch, loveseat, and chair from my parents the extra seating would be nice.

2. Start Operation Christmas ( haha I couldn't help myself )
- Check the dollar store!!
- Crochet my heart out!
* Crochet paper chain so we can use it for years to come
* Crochet ornaments
* Crochet Stockings
* Crochet gifts
- Put lights inside windows
- Put up our totally bare huge tree (We've never actually been able to celebrate a chistmas together due to circumstances but now that we've figured all that out this will be our first christmas living together. So we have quite literally nothing to start with expect a bare artificial tree that has a 6 1/2 ft girth. I mean the thing is massive I will so take pictures. lol )
- Get spare bed from mom's to put in craft room for my grandma
- Buy lots of red, green, & white yarn
- Buy a ton of glue for the glue gun
- Check around for some pretty silver, gold, christmasy yarn.

I told you I'm a list person. It makes it easier for me to actually get done what I want and not forget ideas I come up with. Happy Monday! not really but do enjoy your week. & if you read this entire post. Kudos!Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-23163969002691087922009-10-13T05:23:00.000-07:002009-10-13T05:31:00.729-07:00Really cool star afganI started a new project for myself, for something to do between all these crazy scarfs I'm making.

& it's quickly growing because I don't want to put it down. No idea what I'll use it for but I don't care I thought it was cute.

I also started working on my craft room. I know I said I wanted to just not have one because we were trying for a baby. But we have decided to take the approach of if it happens it happens. I think we are stressing it too much. Plus future baby would probably stay in our room anyways and when the time comes we will move to a bigger place. So craft room is back on. I got all my stuff in it now. I'm open to anything.

Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-39991155263211500732009-10-01T22:08:00.000-07:002009-10-01T22:13:19.800-07:00MORE WORKI've been so busy working. 6 days a week! It's nuts. I can't wait for it to slow down. No luck getting pregnant. But I did manage to crochet a scarf. & I'm halfway through another one. I'll post pictures soon I promise. I've been taking my yarn and hooks to work. & suprise everyone is like fasinated by it. I have people wanting to buy stuff off of me & people who want to learn. A few punks called me a grandma, but most think it's great that I have a hobby. One guy even teared up a bit because his grandma used to crochet before she died and he's 7 ft tall and she would make him blankets that could cover his feet. But unfortunately I need to sleep for I will never get pictures up or get through the day tomorrow.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-67871719789227024102009-08-31T06:59:00.000-07:002009-08-31T07:08:30.011-07:00UpdateNot that anyone really follows anyways, but for my own sake I shall update. I got a job recently. 40 + hours a week and it's second shift. BOO! but the payout is nice. I seem to be having difficulty getting pregnant, the job is a much needed distraction from that frustration. I haven't crocheted anything due to simply being busy and my laundry pile is threatning to eat my basement. I am desperate to get the house together and stop moving stuff around. I don't know why it's so difficult to get settled here. But between cleaning and organizing and washing clothes and working and random snippits of baby making, I'm exausted. I really wanted to join in on a christmas swap this year but I just don't think I have the time for it at the moment and I don't want to commit to something I'm not sure I can do. I am however looking forward to a three day weekend, thanks to labor day. My goal is to have everything finished by this weekend so I can relax enjoy my time with Scott and maybe crochet something guilt free knowing I am finished with everything.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9206105251044140406.post-14792308482492028532009-07-13T15:17:00.000-07:002009-07-13T15:19:14.589-07:00Computers...My Dad has made every computer I've really ever had with the exception of my laptop. Well he is currently updateing my desktop and my laptop screen cracked. So I am not on as much as I'd like. I can only use the computer when I am at a friend's house for the time being. But I do have a lot to share once I finally get my computer back.Melissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02939944386840494449noreply@blogger.com0
